The area is ideal for relaxing and de-stressing….However, should you be feeling energetic…
- Hiking: Walks in the beauty and peace of nature for every level, from the relaxing and easy kind following signed nature tracks, to more ambitious hikes such as the climb to Monte Vettore (2476m.) enjoying all the flora and fauna along the way. If desired, guided walks are available with Bruno. Castro is also a good base to stay for those walking the Grande Anello dei Sibillini. (Great Ring of the Sibillini).
- Mountain Biking: If needed, there are 3 bikes available at Casa Girasole.
- Climbing: At the nearby village of Interprete there is a natural climbing route, used by local Club Alpino Italiano di Ascoli Piceno members for training courses.
- Caving/Rafting: Available in Acquasanta Terme area (about 25 km) in the Monti della Laga National Park.
- Fishing: The River Fluvione and the nearby Lake Gerosa are ideal for fly fishing (trout etc) obviously respecting the relative fishing regulations.
- Tennis/Swimming/5 A-Side Football/Horse riding: These are available at the chief village of Balzo (2km.), depending on the season.
Castro is also a good centre for visiting various places of historical, religious and naturalistic interest in the Parco Nazionale Monti Sibillini, such as Amandola, Montefortino, Montemonaco, Castellucio, The Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Ambro, and the churches of Santa Maria in Pantano and Santa Maria in Lapide.
…….and if all that requires too much energy, then come and relax, enjoy the peace, beauty and tranquility of nature, take photos, paint….or simply enjoy the food and local wine.
